HBO Max debuted the first teaser trailer for “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,” a spin-off of the hit sitcom that features Kevin Sussman reprising the role of comic book store owner Stuart Bloom. The series was revealed during Warner Bros’s Upfront presentation. Discovery held on May 13th and debuts on the platform on July 23rd.
Novo chapter of the Big Bang universe with expanded cast
Stuart will be the fourth production in the expanded universe of The Big Bang Theory, after Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The cast also includes Lauren Lapkus as Denise, Brian Posehn as Bert, and John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke. Todos the three were supporting actors in the original series and now take on leading roles.
Chuck Lorre, creator of the original series, described the production as a “sci-fi action-adventure comedy”. Lorre commented that the series represents a bold creative bet. “We just finished the main filming and I’m very excited. It’s a bold bet. Acho will be acclaimed or hated. Trama involves Sheldon’s multiverse and device
According to the official synopsis, Stuart is tasked with restoring reality after breaking a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, which accidentally causes a multiversal Armagedom. Ele has the help of his girlfriend Denise, geologist Bert and quantum physicist Barry Kripke on this journey through space.
The series follows the characters as they encounter alternate universe versions of familiar The Big Bang Theory characters. The plot suggests that things don’t go quite as planned, maintaining the adventurous comedy tone that characterizes the franchise.
Músicas’s original Danny Elfman on the soundtrack
The streaming platform had already released the first images of the cast gathered at Stuart’s store, Comic Center of Pasadena. Durante to CCXP Cidade of México, the cast revealed that the series will feature original music by Danny Elfman, a composer known for his soundtracks to science fiction and fantasy films.
Bill Prady, creator and executive producer, expressed excitement about the production when comparing the approach to the original series. “Putting characters we love from The Big Bang Theory into a complex sci-fi story with the kind of mythology these characters love, while maintaining the comedic elements, is incredibly rewarding.”

The series is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn and Bill Prady are credited as creators, writers and executive producers. The series follows the 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theory, which aired from 2007 to 2019.
Episodes begin rolling out on HBO Max on July 23 at 9pm ET, with subsequent episodes releasing on Thursdays. Stuart and Barry joined the cast of The Big Bang Theory in the second season, while Denise and Bert joined later in the original series.
