Helio Castroneves and Caio Collet established competitive benchmarks during the third free testing session (FP3) of the preparatory weekend for the Indy 500. The drivers maintained consistency in fast laps and completed the technical work program without major incidents, reinforcing the evolution of their respective single-seaters for the decisive race.

Performance on the track revealed significant gains compared to previous tests. Castroneves, a veteran driver in the category, took advantage of the session to fine-tune the car’s aerodynamic and setup details, while Collet focused on adapting to the track conditions and exploring the machine’s limits at different points of the lap.

Dados technical and positioning

The times recorded during the session place the two Brazilians as real candidates for victory in the main race on the calendar. The margin over direct competitors was significantly reduced compared to previous events:

  • Castroneves completed 47 laps with an average speed of over 230 mph in high-speed corners
  • Collet completed 52 rotations, consolidating learning about the tire’s behavior in different temperature ranges
  • Ambos pilots used two different fuel compositions to optimize energy consumption
  • Equipes techniques collected aerodynamic data that will be incorporated into the final setup

Confiança elevated for upcoming tests

FP3 represented a crucial stage of preparation with three days before official qualifying. Castroneves discussed adjustments to the front suspension system with engineers, implementing feedback from consecutive laps at a pace close to the race. Collet, meanwhile, ran pit stop strategy simulations and worked on consistency in technical turns of the 2.5-mile oval.

Ambos demonstrated high confidence when commenting on performance with their respective teams. The pace presented places them among the favorites in the strategists’ preliminary assessment. The journey continues in this second stage of the weekend, with the possibility of additional refinements before qualifying.

Expectativa for decisive phase

Qualification represents a turning point in preparation. Pilotos with better performance in FP3 gains significant psychological advantage. Castroneves will seek its third victory in the most important race on the IndyCar calendar, while Collet aims to establish itself among the top ten on the starting grid to maximize podium possibilities.

Equipas technicians work 24 hours a day to consolidate gains observed. Revisão telemetry takes place in parallel with the preventive maintenance of single-seaters. Objetivo central remains to guarantee mechanical reliability combined with competitive performance during the 200 rotations of the race.
