Bulgaria surprises and wins Eurovision in Vienna with Dara; Germany is 23rd

Bulgarian singer Dara, 27 years old, won the Festival Eurovisão of Canção 2026 in Viena with an impressive vote. Sua’s presentation of “Bangaranga” collected 516 points, consolidating an unexpected victory that contradicted the bookmakers’ predictions. Finlândia, named as favorite weeks before, was unable to maintain favoritism and only finished in sixth place.

Israel came in second place with 343 points, while Romênia took third place with 296 points. Austrália, which was a big favorite with bettors, came in fourth with 287 points. Itália completed the top 5 with 281 points. Juntos, these countries demonstrated the competitive strength of the festival in 2026.

Alemanha suffers significant drop in ranking

Sarah Engels, German representative, finished 23rd out of 25 participants with just 12 points. The 33-year-old singer received no support from the public, earning points solely from the jury: two from Bulgária, two from Bélgica, two from Portugal and two from Itália. The result marks a considerable drop compared to previous years.

German performance has been falling progressively:

Este scenario represents a significant setback for Alemanha, which was unable to recover its performance from previous years and suffered one of the worst results of its recent participation in the festival.

Favoritas does not meet expectations

The Finnish duo Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen, which had been tipped for weeks as the likely winner, disappointed both the jury and the public. Sua’s performance of “Liekinheitin” received 279 points, placing it in sixth place. Expectations were much greater given the bookmakers’ promotional campaign.

Austrália, which also had strong support from bettors, failed to perform as expected. Delta Goodrem finished fourth with “Eclipse”, accumulating 287 points. The performance of the favorites showed that the public and the jury had different preferences than the initial projections.

Resultados from the top 10 in Viena

The competition brought together 25 countries in a night of high tension and surprises. Dinamarca placed seventh with 243 points, followed by Moldávia in eighth with 226 points. Ucrânia completed the top 10 with Leléka in ninth place (221 points), and Grécia with Akylas in tenth (220 points). The distribution of points reflected an even dispute between the European participants.

Reino Unido isolated in last place

Reino Unido faced a historically negative performance at the festival. The “One, Two, Three” entry received just one point, finishing as the only country in last place among the 25 competitors. Áustria, the host country, came second to last with just 6 points. The British performance reinforces the difficulty the country faces in the last Eurovisão participations.

Classificação completes the final in Viena

The others classified were: França in 11th place with 158 points, Polônia in 12th with 150 points, Albânia in 13th with 145 points and Noruega in 14th with 134 points. Croácia completed the second half of the table in 15th with 124 points. República Tcheca placed 16th (113 points), Sérvia 17th (90 points) and Malta 18th (89 points).

Chipre finished in 19th place with 75 points, Suécia in 20th with 51 points, Bélgica in 21st with 36 points, Lituânia in 22nd with 22 points. Lituânia in 22nd position with 22 points completed the table before Alemanha and Áustria. The competition brought together artists from different musical styles and generations, reflecting the diversity that has characterized the festival for decades.
