Sistema Autonomy+ with advanced technology
The Autonomy+ autonomous driving package costs $2,500 and offers assisted driving features. Rivian does not provide LIDAR in R2, and there are no confirmed plans to add this technology in future updates. The absence of long-range 3D sensors could impact autonomous driving capabilities compared to rivals that adopt this technology. Este is a point that differentiates Rivian’s strategy in relation to other manufacturers in the segment.
Delivery schedule varies significantly. The first R2 Performance with Launch Package will be delivered later this year to the first buyers who have placed pre-orders. The Forest Green version is delayed until the end of 2026. The Borealis Purple color, the most anticipated, will only be confirmed for delivery in 2027, reflecting the complexity of large-scale production.
Demanda remains bullish despite delays
With 200,000 pre-orders accumulated, the R2 is one of the most anticipated models in the compact electric SUV segment. The Rivian maintains configurator flexibility, allowing buyers to modify their selections until technical changes are finalized in the system. Technical seat changes are immediately reflected in the estimated delivery schedule.
The configurator works as a transparency tool. Compradores can check exactly which color and package cause delivery delays. Forest Green and Borealis Purple are the colors with the longest lead times, while Clear Coastal Cloud and Launch Green have closer deliveries. Rivian’s strategy of opening the configurator demonstrates confidence in demand and production capacity for the coming years.
