Sandy Fire Consumes 836 Acres in Simi Valley and Forces Expanded Evacuation

A wildfire named Sandy Fire quickly advanced over Simi Valley into Califórnia starting Monday. The flames consumed 836 acres and forced authorities to expand evacuation zones beyond Ventura and Los Angeles counties. Corpo of Bombeiros of Condado of Ventura confirmed that the fire started in the 600 block of Avenida Sandy, possibly originating from a tractor that hit a rock, triggering the flames.

The accelerated spread of the fire led to the establishment of multiple real-time evacuation order and alert zones. Equipes firefighting teams continue to operate on the ground to contain the spread of flames in residential communities and adjacent areas.

Alertas extended evacuation

Além of direct orders, several areas receive evacuation alerts, indicating potential risk and the need to prepare for rapid exit. No Condado of Ventura, Simi Valley zones 31, TOAK-06, TOAK-07 and SINO-03 are under warning. No Condado from Los Angeles, alerts cover zones WTH-U045, HID-C501, AGO-C304, CAL-C401, LACA-WOOL, LAC-LAKEMANOR, CSB-U024 and MTV-U048.

The inclusion of parts of Condado and Los Angeles in the warning zones represents significant expansion of the affected area. Moradores from these regions must maintain open communication channels and be ready to evacuate in case of expanded orders.

Abrigos and evacuation points

Autoridades locations have established temporary facilities to receive evacuees and large animals. The temporary evacuation point operates at Rancho Santa Susana Community Park, located at 5005 Los Angeles Avenue. A specific shelter for large animals operates at Ventura County Fairgrounds, at 10 E Harbor Blvd.

Alunos from schools close to the fire area were moved to safe institutions in a protection zone. Affected families can obtain additional information on the Cal Fire website, the body responsible for combating state forest fires.
