Whindersson Nunes recognizes exaggeration in talk about R$40 million spent on drugs
The comedian published a video on Sunday to clarify statements made during an interview on the Hottel Mazzafera program. Whindersson acknowledged that he exaggerated in the way he approached the topic of money and excesses, but confirmed that he actually made the controversial statement.
Confirmação and joke about speech
In the conversation with influencer Maya Massafera, the comedian revealed that he had earned more than R$40 million in one year and said that he had spent it all on drugs and “whatever is no good”. Upon seeing the repercussions of the interview go viral on social media, Whindersson initially questioned whether he had actually said that. “When I saw the news, I said: ‘it’s a lie that I said that shit’. Já was going to say it was a lie. But then I looked and said: ‘I really said that shit'”, he said in the video.
The artist took the opportunity to joke about the statement. Segundo he, it would be impossible to spend R$40 million on drugs alone. “There’s no time to spend R$40 million on drugs. Só if I have three clones: one to drink, one to smoke and one to smell. And all while I work”, he joked during the outburst.
Intenção of warning people with sudden gains
Whindersson explained that the intention behind the speech was to serve as a warning to people who start making money unexpectedly. The comedian clarified that the money came in gradually throughout his career and he never accumulated R$40 million at once to spend irresponsibly. “With me, it was money that was coming in and I already had an address, you know? Então I never had R$40 million [at once] with me and I spent it all on drugs and things that are no good”, he declared.
Reflexões on mental health and giftedness
In the same video, Whindersson commented on mental health issues and mentioned a period in which he was hospitalized. The comedian revealed that he had received a report showing characteristics of giftedness, which included the intensity with which he deals with frustrations. “The report says that I am very disappointed when I am disappointed”, he stated lightly.
The artist also highlighted that he learned to be more cautious before responding to criticism or negative repercussions. Essa personal reflection came after realizing that the positive parts of the interview were overshadowed by the repercussion of the speeches about financial excesses.
Frustração with news prioritization
Whindersson showed frustration when realizing that aspects considered positive in the interview, such as reflections on his way of thinking, ended up in the background compared to the coverage about money and excesses. “You see the full interview and the comments are: ‘what an interesting mind’. Aí someone stops in one place and says: ‘this is news'”, he commented on how the narrative of the conversation was fragmented.
The repercussion also served as a moment of reflection for the comedian. At the end of the video, Whindersson declared his intention to improve. “I need to say better things and learn more every day”, he concluded the outburst.
