Google and Samsung officially revealed the designs of their jointly developed smart glasses during the Google I/O developer conference held on May 19. The project is the result of a collaboration between the two technology giants, which had the support of the eyewear brands Warby Parker and Gentle Monster. The launch is scheduled for autumn 2026, but definitive commercial names and prices have not yet been released by the company.
Sharam Izadi, head of XR (extended reality) at Google, explained that the final product names will be decided individually by each partner glasses manufacturer. Mais technical details and availability information are expected to be shared during Samsung’s Unpacked event, scheduled for July.
Especificações and features of the new glasses
The smart glasses will be offered in two different versions: one with a small screen in one eye and the other without a screen. Ambos models feature an integrated monocular camera, microphone and speaker, following a similar configuration to the Meta glasses in collaboration with Ray-Ban.
Compatibility with different types of lenses is one of the differentiators of the new glasses. Tanto both screen and non-screen models will work with a wide range of prescription lenses, a feature not available on current Meta smart glasses.
Conectividade and integrated features
The new glasses will work seamlessly with Wear OS smartwatches, displaying notifications and smart widgets from Android smartphones directly on the screen. Pairing with iPhones is also possible within a certain range, allowing users from different ecosystems to enjoy the device’s basic functionalities.
The model without a screen, which prioritizes audio and communication functions, will be launched first in autumn 2026. The version with a screen, more robust in terms of visual resources, is expected to hit the market at a later date that has not yet been confirmed by the company.
