Três weeks after launch, the fantasy and adventure production continues to be in first place on the streaming platform. The film debuted on May 1, ranking second in its initial week, but quickly took the top spot after a record-breaking performance in its second week. Agora, the title accumulates 80.6 million views in total, consolidating its dominance in the ranking.

Domination continues unabated. Swapped remained at the top of the list from May 11 to May 17 with an additional 24.4 million views, reinforcing its status as the platform’s biggest hit this season. The film largely outperformed its direct competitors in the week analyzed.

Elenco of weight guarantees public attraction

The success of the production is sustained by its internationally recognized cast. Michael B. Jordan, Juno Temple, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer and Justina Machado lend their voices to the film, giving the project commercial weight and appeal. The strategy of hiring established celebrities proved to be effective in attracting mass views.

The choice of actors reflected a clear bet on names that already have a guaranteed audience on streaming platforms. Essa tactic, common in high-budget productions, proved to be correct given the numbers presented by Netflix.

Ranking of the week shows fierce competition

Swapped’s prominent position does not eliminate the presence of other relevant titles on the platform. Remarkably Bright Creatures came in second place with 20.3 million views, while The Crash took third place with 11.7 million. The thriller Apex took fourth place with 10.6 million hits.

Confira the top five from May 11th to 17th:

  • Swapped: 24.4 million views
  • Remarkably Bright Creatures: 20.3 million views
  • The Crash: 11.7 million views
  • Apex: 10.6 million views
  • Goat: 9.2 million views

Produção with a huge budget tells a story of empathy

With an investment of over 150 million dollars, Swapped follows Ollie, a forest creature, and Ivy, a majestic bird, who live as natural enemies. A magical accident forces them to switch bodies, forcing the duo to work together to survive in the wild. The central theme of the film revolves around mutual understanding and the protection of the shared ecosystem.

Dirigido by Nathan Greno, the initial production was completely different in scope. Seis years ago, the project envisioned four teenagers with superpowers as protagonists. Conforme development progressed, the film was radically transformed, maintaining the thematic core of empathy that defined it from the beginning. Greno explained to The Wrap the creative evolution: “The idea was to analyze the current scenario, especially the one from six years ago, and observe how things were. The goal was always to entertain. Queremos to offer something that is a fun rollercoaster to watch.”

The director complemented his comments by highlighting the social responsibility of the project. “But at the same time, you want to convey a message that can do some good, add something positive to the world, and here we are. Sabe, six years later, we still need this movie.” Essa statement encapsulates the philosophy behind the production: to entertain without giving up meaningful content.

Novo challenger arrives on the platform this week

Swapped’s hegemony will face its first serious test in just a few days. Ladies First, an original comedy by Netflix, premieres on Friday, May 22, and promises to compete for the top of the rankings. The film features Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike in the cast, exploring a dystopian scenario where the power dynamics between men and women are completely reversed.

Dirigido by Thea Sharrock, Ladies First was loosely inspired by the 2018 French film I Am Not an Easy Man. The production relies on genre comedy to attract audiences, offering a direct thematic contrast with the fantasy narrative that dominates the platform. Apesar Due to the quality of the names involved and the original proposal, analysts expect Swapped to maintain its consolidated advantage.
