With FIFA’s Copa Mundo coming to Estados Unidos in June 2026, major mobile operators are offering eSIM plans for foreign tourists to stay connected during the tournament. Três from the country’s largest operators recently launched short-term solutions, valid for seven to 45 days and at competitive prices compared to traditional international roaming.
The plans work on unlocked cell phones and cover calls, texts and mobile data depending on the provider. Activation occurs via operators’ mobile applications, without the need for contact with physical stores or customer service.
AT&T offers unlimited data with packages lasting up to 30 days
AT&T’s eSIM plan includes unlimited data and 5 GB of internet access via hotspot. Prices vary depending on duration and geographic coverage:
- 1-day Passe: $4 (US only)
- 7-Day Passe: $16 (US) / $25 (US, Canadá, México)
- 15-day Passe: $26 (US) / $40 (US, Canadá, México)
- 30-day Passe: $41 (US) / $60 (US, Canadá, México)
One important restriction: AT&T’s eSIM is data-only. Chamadas and SMS messages are not included, and the user does not receive a new phone number. The company says expansion to unlimited calls and messages will be launched soon, but a timeline has not been released. Aplicativos like WhatsApp offer alternatives to these services. Activation requires downloading the Connect on Demand app on an unlocked 5G smartphone with an available eSIM slot.
AT&T also offers its Turbo Live service, which improves connectivity in places such as sports stadiums, as an optional add-on to plans.
T-Mobile offers 50GB of 5G data with unlimited calling
The T-Mobile Prepaid US Pass eSIM includes unlimited calling and texting in the US, Canadá and México, plus 50GB of high-speed 5G data followed by unlimited reduced-speed data. No Canadá and México, the user has an additional 5 GB of high-speed data. The amount of data to share via hotspot varies depending on the plan:
- 7-day Passe: $25 (14GB hotspot)
- 10-day Passe: $30 (20GB hotspot)
- 14-day Passe: $35 (28GB hotspot)
- 30-day Passe: $50 (50GB hotspot)
Activation occurs in the T-Mobile Prepaid eSIM app, available for iOS and Android. Impostos and fees are added to the cost of each package upon confirmation of purchase.
Visible (Verizon) offers pre-sale discount until June 10
Visible, the prepaid operator of Verizon, has launched the Visible eSIM Travel Pass specifically for the Copa of the Mundo. Plans include unlimited high-speed data using Verizon’s Ultra Wideband 5G network. Hotspot Dados are not available. When traveling on Alasca, Canadá, México, Porto Rico and Ilhas Virgens Americanas, the subscriber gets unlimited calls and texts plus 2 GB of data per day.
Pre-sale until June 10th offers a US$10 discount with code FIFA10:
- 7-day Passe: US$15 (regular price US$25) + 90 minutes international calls
- 14-day Passe: US$25 (regular price US$35) + 180 minutes international calls
- 30-day Passe: US$35 (regular price US$45) + 300 minutes international calls
- 45-day Passe: US$45 (regular price US$55) + 500 minutes international calls
Cada package includes unlimited texting to over 200 countries. Impostos and fees are included in published prices. Visible is also holding a draw for two tickets for Copa’s Mundo games until May 31st among its customers.
Qual carrier choice depends on coverage priorities
Foreign tourists should consider that price is not the only factor in the decision. The quality of coverage of each operator in the host cities is essential. AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon offer coverage maps on their websites for prior review. AT&T presents a more economical plan for pure data, but without calls. T-Mobile offers a balanced package with calls and lots of data. Visible provides greater temporal flexibility with a pass of up to 45 days and lower initial pre-sale costs.
