ANBERNIC has made official support for Google Play Store available on the RG Vita Pro portable console through an update to the Android system. The feature significantly expands the device’s usage possibilities, which until then only allowed manual installation of applications via external APK.

Play Store arrives on RG Vita Pro after launch

The announcement was made by the manufacturer in a video published on YouTube. The update marks the official opening of the Google app ecosystem for the handheld visually inspired by the classic PlayStation Vita. Usuários can now download programs directly from the store without the need for parallel installations or using external sources.

ANBERNIC’s portable console works with two operating systems simultaneously: Linux and Android. The new update exclusively affects the Android environment, allowing full integration with Google services. The previous limitation went unnoticed by the retro gaming community because many emulators were already installed manually since launch.

Retro Gaming Além: YouTube and Multimedia Apps

With support for Play Store activated, the RG Vita Pro no longer functions solely as an emulation machine. The device now acts as a portable multimedia center with access to traditional services:

  • YouTube and video platforms
  • Aplicativos multimedia streaming
  • Productivity Ferramentas Android
  • Navegadores web and social networks
  • Serviços communication and messaging

The video released by ANBERNIC demonstrates conventional applications working normally on the device, reinforcing the manufacturer’s strategy of expanding the console’s appeal beyond the audience focused exclusively on retro gaming. Versatility makes the notebook more attractive for everyday use compared to previous generations.

Emulação from PS Vita still lacks consolidated solutions

The lack of access to Play Store since launch has not had a major impact because the PlayStation Vita emulation ecosystem on Android remains limited. Atualmente there are few really advanced tools to run games from the original Sony handheld on smartphones and Android consoles. Durante has long been considered one of the most stable and complete solutions available.

Mais Recently, another project called EmuCoreV started gaining traction in the community. Apesar advances, neither of the two applications is officially available on Play Store, a factor that reduced the initial impact of the service’s unavailability on RG Vita Pro. With the update, ANBERNIC did not reveal whether it intends to include these emulators in the official Google store.

The official opening of the Play Store on the portable console represents an important step towards consolidating the RG Vita Pro as a versatile alternative in the retro portable market. The measure transforms the device into a multifunctional tool that does not rely exclusively on emulators or customized installations. ANBERNIC signals its willingness to follow consumer trends by integrating general-purpose functionalities into hardware traditionally focused on preserving classics.
