Truck collides with train in Garbatka; driver dies and 18 are injured
A truck collided with a train traveling Rogoźno-Poznań at a level crossing in Garbatka, in Obornicki county, in Grande Polônia. The driver of the vehicle died in the impact and 18 passengers of the Koleje Wielkopolskie were injured. The collision caused the truck to catch fire, causing a fire that spread to the nearby grass.
The collision occurred on a Monday after 3pm at a category D level crossing, marked with a cross Santo André and a “Stop” sign. Deputy Minister Malepszak recalled that penalties for drivers who disobey safety rules have been toughened, but disobedience to rules remains a chronic problem in railway operations in the region.
