Contexto on the Brazilian market
Confirmation of arrival at Brasil occurred first hand in January of this year, as confirmed by Autoesporte. The Dolphin G arrives at a time of expansion of the BYD portfolio in the country, which already sells conventional versions of the Dolphin with great acceptance among urban consumers.
The plug-in hybrid represents the Chinese manufacturer’s strategy of diversifying its propulsion offerings before completely dominating the segment with 100% electric models. Essa approach makes it possible to reach consumers who are still hesitant to fully migrate to pure electricity.
Posicionamento on BYD strategy
BYD is a global manufacturer that also sells hybrids in the Brasil under brands such as Song and Yuan Plus. The Dolphin G DM-i expands this offer in the entry-level segment, where consumers seek savings combined with performance and technological features.
BYD’s DM-i technology allows the vehicle to run completely on an electric motor on short journeys, activating the combustion engine only when necessary. Esse system reduces emissions and increases energy efficiency compared to conventional non-plug-in hybrids.
