Ferrari officially unveiled its first all-electric vehicle on Monday at Roma. The Luce, an Italian name meaning “light”, marks a radical shift for the luxury sports car maker as rivals such as Porsche and Lamborghini scale back their electric vehicle ambitions, citing weak demand.

CEO Benedetto Vigna revealed the car to more than 200 journalists gathered in the Italian capital. “It’s the result of five years of work,” stated Vigna during the event.

Especificações and Luce technology

The Luce was developed with the help of former Apple design lead Jony Ive and his LoveFrom collective. The vehicle is the first five-seater Ferrari, aimed at attracting families with high purchasing power through comfortable seats, cutting-edge technology and a 600-liter trunk.

The car has 4 electric motors, one on each wheel, which provide more than 1,000 horsepower, a maximum speed of over 310 km/h and a range of more than 500 kilometers. The Luce amplifies the natural vibration sounds of its electric propulsion system to maintain the visceral appeal of a traditional Ferrari.

Características main techniques:

  • 4 independent electric motors
  • 1,000 horsepower Mais
  • Velocidade maximum speed above 310 km/h
  • Autonomia greater than 500 kilometers
  • Peso over 2.2 tons
  • Porta-600 liter suitcases
  • Primeiro model Ferrari with 5 seats

Design innovative and visual disruption

The launch featured five models of the Luce painted in shades ranging from Ferrari red to white and light blue. The bodywork marks a break with the automaker’s characteristic aggressive and muscular sports style, featuring an expansive design with large glass areas.

The interior of the Luce echoes the traditional luxury of the Ferrari, with leather, glass and anodized aluminum surfaces. The vehicle has several physical controls that differ from the all-digital, touch-sensitive approach of competitors such as Tesla and Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers.

Market Expansion Estratégia

Ferrari represents this bet as an opportunity to expand its operations in markets like China, where electric vehicles are already common and large gasoline cars face heavy taxation. The strategy seeks to attract a generation immersed in technology and artificial intelligence, less attached to the legacy of the brand’s 12 and 8-cylinder engines.

“In our customer base, there are many who are still looking for something completely different, to be used at different moments in life”, declared Enrico Galliera, marketing and commercial director at Ferrari.

“It’s absolutely stunning,” added Galliera about the car’s performance with its 4 independent electric motors on each wheel.

Preço and availability

The Luce will be sold at a price of €550,000, equivalent to US$640,000. Deliveries of the long-awaited model are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. The official launch is scheduled for May 25, 2026.
