João Fonseca already has his next appointment set for the season. The 19-year-old Brazilian begins his campaign on grass courts in the Halle ATP 500, at Alemanha, starting on June 15th.
Ele was eliminated in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros this Tuesday, June 2, by the Czech Jakub Mensik. Apesar of the defeat, the campaign marked the tennis player’s best performance in an Grand Slam.
Calendário on grass starts at Halle
The German tournament opens the preparation sequence for Wimbledon. Next, João Fonseca must play Eastbourne’s ATP 250, at Reino Unido.
- Halle’s ATP 500: starts June 15
- Eastbourne’s ATP 250: schedule soon after
- Wimbledon: main objective of the period
The Brazilian prioritizes a few days of rest at home before the trip to Europa.
“Despite the defeat, it was a very good path. Duas positive weeks, hard work, learning. Agora has his head held high, returning home and then moving on to continue the season,” said Fonseca after the game.
Campanha on Roland Garros raises morale
Reaching the quarterfinals in Paris brought visibility and important points in the rankings. The young tennis player demonstrated evolution against high-level opponents.
The transition from clay to grass requires quick adaptations. The ball bounces lower and the points are shorter. Fonseca will use Halle to adjust the game.
Expectativa positive in European sequence
With confidence high, the Brazilian enters the grass season motivated. The programming maintains the rhythm without major breaks.
The fans are closely following the debut on the fast surface on June 15th.
