The virtual reality game inspired by the Amazon Prime Video series can now be played on the PS VR2, with features such as eye tracking that turns your gaze into a weapon and support for the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Developed by Brazilian studio ARVORE in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment,The Boys: Trigger Warningputs the player in the shoes of Lucas Costa, an ordinary father whose life is destroyed after a visit to Voughtland park. Injected with Compound V, he gains powers and joins The Boys to confront the corrupt Vought and the Armstrong family of superheroes.

The title maintains the irreverent, violent and satirical tone of the franchise, with acid humor, brutal action and criticism of the “supes” celebrity. The original narrative was created in collaboration with the TV series’ writers, including voices from actors such as Laz Alonso, Jensen Ackles, Colby Minifie and P.J. Byrne.

PS VR2 version brings new mechanics and superior visuals

Unlike the edition released in March for Meta Quest, the PlayStation VR2 version elevates the experience with native headset features. Eye tracking allows you to use the Laser Eyes power by aiming just with your gaze — one of the rare times in which eye tracking becomes a central gameplay mechanic. The technology also optimizes foveated rendering, improving visual quality right where the player looks.

Other highlights include more detailed textures, advanced dynamic lighting and shadows, higher resolution, and optimized performance. On the standard PS5, the game runs at 90Hz; on PS5 Pro, it reaches 120Hz, delivering more fluid movements and improved immersion.

Context of a Brazilian studio on the rise

ARVORE, based in São Paulo, is recognized worldwide for immersive experiences. The studio already won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2020 and has accumulated awards with the series Pixel Ripped (1989, 1995 and 1978).The Boys: Trigger WarningIt represents its largest production to date, with around 50 developers at peak.

The launch on PS VR2 comes at a time when the game catalog for the headset is looking for titles with strong IPs. While the Quest version received mixed reviews — praising its fidelity to the universe of The Boys, but pointing out technical limitations and depth of gameplay — the PlayStation edition promises to be the definitive one, especially for those who have a PS5 Pro.

Rated for over 17s due to intense violence, gore, sexual themes, nudity, drugs and inappropriate language, the game lasts around 10 hours in a complete campaign.

The Boys: Trigger Warningis now available on the PlayStation Store for PS VR2.
