Pre-orders for selected products from the Mega Evolution—Pitch Black collection are now available at Pokémon Center. The official launch of the expansion takes place on July 17, 2026.
Items available for advance purchase include the Elite Training Box, Booster Pack and Booster Box. Collectors can secure pieces before they arrive at other retailers.
The opening of sales took place this Wednesday (10), which represents 37 days in advance of the launch date. In the case of the previous expansion, Chaos Rising, the interval was 39 days. Until then, the Pokémon Center standard for pre-sales was around 78 days.
What changes for fans
The reduction in the pre-sale period changes the planning of collectors and players. With less time between the announcement of pre-sales and the arrival of the product, the race for stock tends to be more intense, especially for limited items such as Elite Training Boxes, which tend to sell out quickly.
Pre-launch events already have dates set: they start on July 4th in stores participating in the Play! Pokémon. On these occasions, participants receive Build & Battle boxes with ready-made decks and booster packs to play in the expansion’s specific format.
Collection highlights
The Pitch Black expansion features more than 115 cards in total, with an emphasis on new Mega Evolutions ex, including Mega Darkrai ex and Mega Zeraora ex. The set also features more than 20 Trainer cards and more than 35 special illustrations. The dark theme reinforces darkness and electricity mechanics, opening up new strategies for competitive decks.
The Pokémon Center offers free shipping on purchases over a certain value in the United States and usually applies limits per customer to prevent resale. Anyone trying to buy should be aware of possible virtual queues and quick updates on the website.
