The 2026 World Cup starts this Thursday (11) at the Azteca Stadium, in Mexico City. The opening ceremony, before the game between Mexico and South Africa, features performances by Shakira and Nigerian Burna Boy.
The duo performs “Dai Dai”, the official song of the tournament, live. Shakira participates in an official World Cup ceremony for the third time.
Other artists confirmed at the event that precedes the kickoff at 4pm are Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná and Tyla.
The broadcast of the ceremony, scheduled for 2:30 pm (Brasília time), will be carried out by TV Globo, SBT, SporTV, N Sports, GeTV (Globoplay) and CazéTV (YouTube). CNN Sports follows everything in real time.
The following day, June 12, the opening ceremonies also take place in Canada and the United States, venues that share the World Cup with Mexico.
In Toronto, Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette and Alessia Cara perform before Canada x Bosnia. Other confirmed names include Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream and William Prince.
In Los Angeles, Katy Perry shares the stage with rapper Future, DJ Sanjoy, Brazilian Anitta and Paraguayan Marilina Bogado, before the duel between the United States and Paraguay. Thai Lisa, from Blackpink, also participates.
