Nintendo fans have reason to celebrate. In the most recent Nintendo Direct, the company officially announced the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, one of the most celebrated and memorable titles in the history of video games.

The game will be released in 2026, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, and is already generating great expectations among players, who are waiting for a significant update to the classic.

The dream of a map without loading

Even with the announcement, Nintendo shared little information about the remake’s news, showing only a short teaser. This scarcity of details encouraged speculation from the community, which intensely discussed the improvements they would like to see in the game.

The topic that appears most in conversations is the map of Hyrule.

On forums like Reddit, several players expressed their desire for an entirely connected world, eliminating the old loading screens between regions. The proposal seeks to provide continuous and uninterrupted exploration, similar to what occurred in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

What fans expect from the changes

For many in the community, turning Hyrule traversal into a fluid experience would represent one of the main evolutions. Others hope for a slightly larger and more inhabited map, with Vila do Mercado gaining proportions and movement worthy of a real city, full of characters.

It is important to highlight that all of these ideas represent only assumptions and public enthusiasm, without any official confirmation from Nintendo. It remains to be seen whether the company will opt for a bolder approach or a faithful recreation of the original, with specific adjustments to mechanics and quality of life.

A timeless classic

To understand the size of the expectation, it is worth remembering the historical weight of the game. Released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, Ocarina of Time is often considered one of the best video games of all time, with a score of 99 on Metacritic, the highest ever given to a title.

The plot follows the hero Link on his mission to save the land of Hyrule and thwart the plans of the villain Ganondorf. The game was a pioneer in establishing new standards for 3D adventures, serving as a reference for countless subsequent productions.

Celebrating 40 years

The timing of the announcement was not random. The Legend of Zelda franchise turns 40 in 2026, and the remake of one of its most beloved chapters arrives as Nintendo’s main tribute to fans on this special date.

Interestingly, this is not the first time the title has returned. It already had a version for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011. Now, however, the expectation is for a much more ambitious reconstruction, which takes full advantage of the new console’s hardware.

When the game arrives in Brazil

The Brazilian public received good news. According to Nintendo, the remake of Ocarina of Time will come with full localization in Brazilian Portuguese, which removes language barriers for those who want to experience the story in its entirety.

For now, the main limitation is the exclusivity for the Nintendo Switch 2, which excludes those who do not yet have the new console. Without a precise launch date, the company promised to release more information in the coming months.
