Qureate revealed this Thursday (11) the release date ofTokyo Valkyries, your new deck-building roguelite. The title arrives on July 9th for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

The game mixes turn-based combat with cards and roguelite progression. Players assemble their own deck, develop strategies and advance across a map facing enemies. Depending on the houses visited such as battle, shop or anomaly, different events take place, allowing everyone to choose their route to the final boss.

The protagonists are university students from Tokyo with varied personalities, ranging from cool and cheerful to gyaru, refined and younger. During the day, they lead normal student lives. At night, they act as warriors to prevent the invasion of an “other world”. One of the highlights is the ritual of drawing the cursed sword for purification, which also enhances the girls’ abilities.

Differences between platforms draw attention

One of the most talked about features are the hand movement animations when drawing the cursed sword. In the Switch version, the gesture is described as soft and gentle. On Steam, the movement is firmer and stronger. Users on the networks noticed the difference and joked about “inexplicable discrimination” or even excessive regulation.

Qureate has previously used cross-platform specification variations in previous titles, such asBunny Garden 2. This time, the focus is on this specific animation, which generated curiosity even before comparative videos circulated.

Gameplay arouses positive interest

Despite discussions about the animations, the initial reception to the gameplay is encouraging. Reviews highlight that the system seems easy to understand, interesting and rewarding. Many players stated that they intend to buy the title right at launch.

In the game, the objective is to build powerful decks to face the invasion of the underworld and seal the cursed swords. Each girl has specific attributes that influence the cards, and choosing the right leader unlocks special abilities. The combination of team composition and deck construction is seen as the key to victory.
