This Friday (12), users reported problems accessing Instagram and Facebook. Many are unable to log in, while others see the app close by itself or fail to load feeds, Stories and messages.
The reports intensified throughout the morning and early afternoon. On Downdetector, most complaints focus on app crashes, server connections, and login issues. Users describe the app closing suddenly even after restarting the phone.
Users flock to X to let off steam
With Meta’s platforms unstable, many people went to X (formerly Twitter) to complain. Posts like “Is anyone else’s Instagram down? It doesn’t upload stories, photos, nothing!” they multiplied. Others mention the bad timing, precisely on Valentine’s Day, when many intended to post statements.
Professionals who depend on networks for work also feel the impact. Content creators report difficulty updating Stories and interacting with the public, which hinders daily engagement.
Meta has not yet officially manifested itself
To date, Meta has not released a detailed statement on the cause of the instability. Platforms like WhatsApp also accumulate similar complaints in some reports.
The problem appears to be intermittent and mainly affects access via the mobile app, with variations by region and device. Many users try quick fixes like reinstalling the app or using the web version, but the results are inconsistent.
