Applications such as Instagram and Facebook registered significant instability this Friday morning (12), resulting in several expressions of dissatisfaction on the part of their users on digital platforms. According to information from the Downdetector portal, a tool that monitors interruptions in online services, the first signs of problems appeared around 10:40 am. At the time of the last investigation, complete normalization had not yet been achieved.
On the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, many internet users shared their difficulties, mentioning the inability to load new publications in the feed, access certain application features or even post content. Complaints were mostly concentrated on the Instagram platform, indicating a more pronounced impact there.
Some users have expressed their frustration with the recurrence of issues. “With each new version, Instagram and WhatsApp only accumulate more flaws. It’s impressive how they get worse”, said one internet user, while another questioned the network’s performance: “What’s happening with Instagram, guys?”.
Faced with the interruption in services, several users sought out X as a meeting point to confirm whether the failures were an isolated problem or whether they affected a wider audience. “Instagram is down? I’m trying to post something, but it won’t load at all,” reported one user, seeking validation.
Another observation made by users was the irony of the failure occurring on a date of great relevance and interaction on social networks in Brazil. “Instagram dropping just today, on Valentine’s Day, is quite a gift,” commented one internet user, highlighting the inconvenient timing for the celebration.
Until the publication of this update, Meta, the company responsible for both platforms, had not released any official statement explaining the origin or extent of the failures reported by users in Brazil.
