Volkswagen officially announced that the ID.4 model, its all-electric SUV, will be the automaker’s first car to be sold directly in the Brazilian market. Produced in Germany, the vehicle is scheduled to arrive in the country in 2026, marking the beginning of a new phase in the company’s electrification strategy.
Although it was already known to some consumers, the ID.4 was only available through the VW Sign&Drive subscription program. The news is that, from now on, the electric SUV will be incorporated into Volkswagen’s conventional sales line, allowing direct purchase by interested parties.
The manufacturer has not yet released detailed information such as the price, available versions or the complete technical sheet for the Brazilian market. However, it was confirmed that the SUV will come in an improved configuration compared to that offered by subscription, promising more power, torque, greater autonomy and a more efficient direct current charging system.
Significant improvements for the electric SUV arriving in the country
The ID.4 that will be sold in Brazil will represent an improvement compared to the version that has already circulated in Volkswagen’s subscription program. The automaker assures that the new batch will offer superior performance and improved rapid recharging capacity, a crucial factor for drivers who plan to use the electric vehicle on longer trips.
Direct current, or DC, recharging technology is essential for refueling at fast charging stations. A higher load acceptance capacity in the vehicle translates into less waiting time during charging stops.
This optimization positions the ID.4 more competitively compared to the various electric SUVs that have arrived in Brazil recently. The national electric segment already has the presence of Chinese and European brands and premium models, all with varied proposals in terms of price, autonomy and technological innovations, making Volkswagen’s entry even more strategic.

Advanced MEB platform optimizes space and performance
One of the ID.4’s technical highlights is the MEB platform, an architecture developed exclusively by the Volkswagen Group for electric vehicles. This structural base allows for more efficient use of internal space, eliminating components typical of combustion cars and integrating the battery into the vehicle floor.
In practice, this configuration guarantees a generous wheelbase and a trunk competitive for the SUV category. Volkswagen claims that the ID.4 that will be sold in Brazil will have one of the largest internal spaces among its main rivals.
This approach differs significantly from electric vehicles that are adapted from platforms originally designed for combustion engines. With the ID.4, the project was born electric, which directly benefits weight distribution, occupant comfort and the car’s overall energy efficiency.
The global success of the ID.4 and Volkswagen’s electrification strategy
The ID.4 is one of the pillars of Volkswagen’s electric vehicle family. Worldwide, the SUV has already surpassed the mark of 700 thousand units sold, contributing to the expansion of the brand’s presence in the electric vehicle segment in several global markets.
The ID line. forms the basis of Volkswagen’s worldwide electric offensive. According to the company, more than 2 million fully electric vehicles have already been delivered, and the MEB platform has served as the foundation for around 3 million electric models across the Volkswagen Group.
The automaker also highlights its leadership in the European electric car market, with the Volkswagen Group holding a 26% share of the electric car segment across Europe.
Volkswagen brand enters the direct sale of electric cars in Brazil
The arrival of the ID.4 at dealerships represents an important change in Volkswagen’s operations in Brazil. Although the brand already has extensive experience in electrification globally, it had not yet made a 100% electric car available for direct sale in the Brazilian market.
This strategic movement occurs in a period of intense expansion in the supply of electric vehicles in the country, a growth driven, in large part, by the advancement of Chinese brands, the development of new battery technologies and the growing variety of electrified SUVs in different price ranges. For Volkswagen, the ID.4 is the ideal entry point into this scenario, combining family size, a consolidated global project, dedicated platform and the accumulated experience of a model with significant sales volume in other countries.
Details about prices and versions will be revealed soon
Volkswagen will keep key commercial information about the ID.4 confidential until its official launch approaches. Details such as the final price, version configurations, equipment package, autonomy certified by the Brazilian cycle and definitive power will be announced closer to the start of sales.
