Eli Lilly announced discounts of more than R$1,000 on Mounjaro, a tirzepatide-based medication used to treat type 2 diabetes and weight loss. The cuts, valid through the company’s loyalty program, reach R$2,600 in some kits and occur at the exact moment when the Brazilian market is experiencing strong pressure from national competitors and manipulated versions.
The American pharmaceutical company’s move seeks to maintain competitiveness in a segment that has exploded in popularity in recent years, but now faces a greater supply of cheaper alternatives.
Per dose discounts in the Lilly program
Prices vary depending on the presentation and purchase channel (physical or online), with discounts applied to the maximum consumer price. Among the main adjustments are:
- Starter pack (2.5 mg + 5 mg): drops to around R$2,250
- Dose adjustment (7.5 mg): reduction of up to R$1,600
- Advanced adjustment (10 mg): savings of up to R$2,600
The combos are valid for three months from June 11, 2026 or while supplies last.

25 million doses handled in six months
Tirzepatide is patented by Eli Lilly, but Brazilian legislation allows masterful manipulation with a medical prescription. What changed was the volume: Brazil imported enough inputs for around 25 million doses in just six months. Anvisa has already intensified inspections and identified irregularities such as lack of quality control, sterility problems and counterfeit products in some pharmacies.
Experts point out that this industrial scale puts pressure on the prices of originals and increases risks to patients’ health.
Ozivy and Eurofarma expand affordable options
Meanwhile, national semaglutide is gaining ground. EMS launches Ozivy from June 15th with a starting price of R$452 per pen — practically half of some imported options. With the Vida + Leve program, the average monthly cost in the first 90 days drops to around R$287.
Eurofarma also operates in the segment with versions of semaglutide and already offers significant reductions, with initial doses between R$399 and R$599, in addition to patient support programs.
What changes for those who need treatment
The simultaneous arrival of discounts at Mounjaro, expansion of manipulated products and entry of national products should make access wider, but also requires caution. Patients must prioritize regulated channels, follow medical prescriptions and check the origin of supplies. Greater competition tends to continue adjusting prices in the coming weeks, benefiting the pockets of those treating obesity or type 2 diabetes, as long as there is adequate monitoring.
