Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso recently indicated uncertainty about his future in Formula 1. When asked by the category’s official website about his plans, the Spanish driver said he was “open to many scenarios”, without defining whether his priority would be to continue at Aston Martin. Possibilities for Alonso include retiring from the track to dedicate himself to other projects, renewing his contract with the Silverstone team, or a possible transfer to another team, taking advantage of the few opportunities that arise on the market. Currently, the scenario remains open, despite the constant buzz in the paddock.

Recent news, released by the Italian press directly from the Montmeló paddock, linked Alonso again to Alpine. The renowned publication Motorsport Italia associated the driver’s name with the team that marked the most successful period in his career. The scenario for the 2026 season, with the arrival of Gucci as a partner, looks promising for the French team, which has shown growth and has already achieved a podium in Monaco with Gasly, even though the broadcast has been postponed. However, these results are not yet definitive, and the newspaper MARCA points out that Aston Martin considers these rumors to be mere speculation.

Alonso’s connection with the Enstone team is undeniable, and the driver is considered a legend there. The Spaniard has accumulated numerous achievements with the different formations of the Renault Group, making this a possible fourth comeback. Motorsport Italia describes the idea as “realistic”, highlighting the two drivers’ titles in 2005 and 2006, in addition to the 17 victories between 2003 and 2008. The team currently has Flavio Briatore, a figure with whom Alonso maintains a close, almost familial relationship. However, this personal connection does not guarantee that his destiny is linked to the structure led by the Italian.

Aston Martin refutes reports of possible exit

At the same time, MARCA confirmed that Aston Martin categorically rejects this information, classifying it as unfounded rumors. The relationship between Fernando Alonso and his current team is described as excellent, and the Oviedo-born driver has demonstrated a full commitment to the Silverstone project for the years to come. This commitment extends beyond his role as a driver, with the possibility of taking on a role as team ambassador following his retirement from Formula 1.
