Technology giant Apple may soon create an innovative artificial intelligence agent with the ability to natively manage and operate applications on its devices. Analyst Mark Gurman indicated this possibility, reporting that company directors highlighted Siri’s modern architecture as a prepared basis for significant future expansions. This evolution represents an important step, allowing the brand’s devices to become more proactive and autonomous.
Evolution of Siri and the ability of autonomous agents
The intention behind this potential new model is to replicate the functionality of platforms like OpenClaw, acting independently. This means that the artificial intelligence agent would be able to interact and use applications on the iPhone, iPad or Mac without the user having to intervene directly. Such technology would transform the user’s interaction with devices, freeing them from specific commands for routine tasks and delegating the execution of actions to intelligent systems.
Siri’s modern architecture paves the way for new functions
It is essential to highlight that the latest version of the Siri virtual assistant has been completely redesigned with a flexible and modern architecture, which incorporates advanced language models. Apple engineering chief Mike Rockwell emphasized that this new technological foundation sets the stage for Siri to expand into more autonomous functions in future software. This development paves the way for a new paradigm of user-device interaction, where AI not only responds, but also acts in an intelligent and anticipatory way.
Rockwell explained that an “agent is something that operates in a cycle of inputting information, making decisions, and taking actions.” He added that, although the current system is mostly based on direct requests, Siri’s underlying structure is completely modern, which guarantees a very similar expansion capacity for future features.
In turn, Crag Federighi, the company’s vice president of software, recognized the vast potential of this category of AI. However, he emphasized that Apple’s main focus remains on security and user experience at this time. Despite the current priority, Federighi did not rule out the company’s future foray into this promising segment.
