FCC certification reveals new Galaxy Z Fold 8 features with advanced connectivity and new form factor
A new foldable device from Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, appeared listed in the records of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), signaling the imminent arrival of the smartphone on the market.
Preliminary information contained in the technical documentation indicates that the device is identified as SM-F971U and will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor exclusive to the American market.

The approval details a robust range of connectivity options, covering the 5G standard, the latest generation Wi-Fi 7, near field communication (NFC), the ultra-wideband protocol (UWB) and support for DisplayPort, allowing connection to high-resolution external monitors, a feature that amplifies the device’s versatility for professional and entertainment uses.
Additionally, the future foldable integrates satellite communication functionalities (NB-NTN), a feature that has become crucial in high-end devices for emergencies and areas without traditional cellular network coverage, demonstrating Samsung’s investment in cutting-edge technologies for the safety and accessibility of its users.
The FCC document also points to other technical features of the smartphone, such as a 4,800 mAh battery, compatible with 45W fast charging, as well as wireless charging options and reverse charging capacity for other accessories.

Samsung has not yet officially announced the release date for the Galaxy Z Fold 8; however, market expectations point to the device being presented and sold from July onwards.
Projections from informants suggest that the foldable smartphone will feature a dual 50 MP rear camera system, two 10 MP front cameras, IP48 certified water and dust protection and will come standard with Android 17 and the One UI 9 interface.
