Palmeiras’ re-presentation is postponed, and the club’s doctor details Vitor Roque’s evolution
Palmeiras made a change in the return date for the interseason period, which occurs during the World Cup break. The new schedule establishes that the cast and technical committee will begin work next Wednesday, June 24th, unlike the previous schedule that pointed to the return for Sunday, the 21st.
According to Pedro Pontin, the club’s medical coordinator, in a video released on official TV, the decision was taken after the last match played. He explained that a recess was agreed between the technical committee and the board due to the intense sequences of games and travel, which caused considerable wear, both physical and mental, on the athletes. The extended break aims to allow players to rest, spend time with their families and regain optimal conditioning for the second half of the season, crucial to avoiding injuries and maintaining a high level of performance in a tight schedule.
Still in his speech, Pontin mentioned that, although there is a full pre-season ahead, the medical team understood the need for some athletes to maintain a minimum level of physical conditioning to withstand the impact of training. In this way, remote activities and club facilities were offered so that players could work with professionals. Participation was remarkable, with the majority choosing to carry out activities on the club’s premises, a format already used on other occasions.
Images released by Palmeiras show Vitor Roque and Jefté at the Football Academy, both recovering from injuries. In addition to them, Benedetti and Paulinho also carry out individual work.
Regarding the health status of the injured players, medical coordinator Pedro Pontin concluded that Vitor Roque is in a more advanced stage of recovery, with a process considered excellent, already performing functional exercises essential for his return. Jephthé, in turn, is in the initial phase of post-surgery recovery. The presence of both at the club, under the care of the team, is essential to guarantee the best possible recovery.
Palmeiras’ next commitment will only be on July 22, when they will face Coritiba as a visitor, in the 19th round of the Brazilian Championship. Until then, the team led by Abel Ferreira will have an extensive period to train and seek the best performance in the second semester.
