Rockstar makes GTA V free upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series from June 18th
Producer Rockstar Games announced that owners of the title Grand Theft Auto V on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One platforms will have access to the upgrade to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions at no additional cost, starting on June 18th.
It is important to note that upgrading to the new generation was not always free. At the initial launch of the optimized versions, Rockstar offered the upgrade for R$53.73, but this condition was only valid for a limited period of three months. After this period, players interested in trying the enhanced edition needed to purchase the game again, paying the full price. With the recent communication, this financial restriction is permanently removed.
Starting tomorrow, everyone who owns any PS4 edition or the Xbox One digital version of Grand Theft Auto V will be able to migrate to the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S editions at no cost, guaranteeing access to the most complete GTAV and GTA Online experiences. This opportunity precedes the launch of the highly anticipated mission “The Kortz Center Heist.”
The editions of GTAV and GTA Online developed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S incorporate several significant technical improvements. They offer a seamless transition of progress from both Story Mode and Online Mode, as well as exclusive new features. New features include high-performance vehicles and enhancements from Hao’s Special Works, rewards in the Career Progress system and many other additions.
For personal computer players, all these updates are also available. Additionally, the PC platform has exclusive features, such as ambient occlusion and global illumination, both with ray tracing technology. Upgrading from Legacy to Enhanced is offered free of charge to these users.
The arrival of the free update is in line with the launch of a new feature in Grand Theft Auto Online. Rockstar confirmed that the upgrade will be available simultaneously with “The Kortz Center Heist”, a new heist mission that will be added to the online universe. The strategy of combining new content with the free release of the upgrade suggests an effort by the company to revitalize the title’s active player base, which, even more than a decade after its launch, remains one of the most popular globally.
