The Brazilian team faces Haiti this Friday (19), in the second round of Group C of the 2026 World Cup, with a different detail than initially planned: the game starts at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), and no longer at 10 pm. The clash takes place at Lincoln Financial Field, in Philadelphia, United States.

The change was confirmed by FIFA after the end of the repechages, when all 48 participants in the World Cup were defined. The adjustment responded, among other factors, to a request from the city of Philadelphia itself, which organizes the match.

Initially, the detailed table released in December 2025 scheduled the duel for 10pm. The advance by half an hour is part of a greater standardization of schedules in the tournament, which takes into account time zones, TV broadcasts and venue logistics.

Brazil comes into the game after drawing 1-1 with Morocco in their debut. Carlo Ancelotti’s team is looking for its first victory to take the lead in the group, which still includes Scotland and Morocco. On the other hand, Haiti, back in the World Cup after 52 years, lost in its debut to Scotland and needs an impressive result.

The match takes on special features due to the history between the two teams. In 2004, Brazil and Haiti played the so-called “Game of Peace” in Port-au-Prince, in the midst of a political crisis in the Caribbean country. The Seleção won 6-0, with a show by Ronaldinho Gaúcho, in a friendly match that stopped conflicts for a few hours and symbolized Brazilian support.

Adjustment meets logistics of the host city

Philadelphia, which hosts five group stage games, sought to align the schedule to better accommodate the large flow of Brazilian and Haitian fans expected in the city. Lincoln Financial Field has a capacity for around 69,000 people and Friday night’s game is one of the highlights of the local schedule.

With the change, Brazil will keep games at prime times on Brazilian TV: 7pm against Morocco, 9:30pm against Haiti and 7pm against Scotland. FIFA made similar adjustments to other matches to balance the tournament schedule.

What changes in practice for fans and national teams

For fans in Brazil, kick-off at 9:30 pm allows them to watch the game at a reasonable time, without breaking into the early hours. In the United States, the start at 8:30 pm local favors the audience present at the stadium, especially with the large presence of the Brazilian and Haitian communities in the region.

The teams also benefit from the adjustment: less impact on rest after the game, considering the tight sequence of the group stage. Brazil returns to the field on the 24th against Scotland, in Miami.

The duel will be broadcast on TV Globo, SBT, SporTV, CazéTV (YouTube), ge TV and N Sports.
