Peacock Confirms ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ TV Series With Seth MacFarlane and Chris Yost Producing
Peacock has given the official green light to the television adaptation of the acclaimed book “Dungeon Crawler Carl”, written by Matt Dinniman and a New York Times bestseller. The project will be a Universal Global Television production, with Seth MacFarlane’s company Fuzzy Door as an essential part of the team behind the series that has sold more than 10 million copies, demonstrating the public’s great interest in the original narrative. The first information about Peacock’s acquisition of the series had already been released in April.
Chris Yost, known for his work on “The Mandalorian”, takes on the role of writer and executive producer. The creator of the literary work, Matt Dinniman, will participate as co-executive producer, although he will not be directly involved in writing the script. Seth MacFarlane is also part of the team of executive producers, alongside Erica Huggins and Rachel Hargreaves-Heald, both from Fuzzy Door.
The project’s journey began a little earlier, with Universal International Studios acquiring the rights in early 2025. At that time, however, there was still no streaming service or broadcaster publicly associated with the production.

Celebrating the news, Matt Dinniman shared his satisfaction on social media. “Surprise! I’m pleased to announce that our friends at Peacock have officially approved the Dungeon Crawler Carl television series,” wrote the author, expressing excitement about starting work alongside Chris Yost, Seth MacFarlane and the entire Fuzzy Door team. Dinniman promised more details in the coming weeks and suggested fans attend the DCC panel at San Diego Comic-Con for future information. He made a point of thanking his fans for their crucial support that made the adaptation possible.
The plot of “Dungeon Crawler Carl” transports viewers to an apocalypse scenario after an alien invasion, where the few remaining humans are forced to fight for survival in a brutal intergalactic reality show. The protagonist, Carl, a Coast Guard veteran, has to face the challenges barefoot, with his only company being Princess Donut, a self-centered and talkative cat belonging to his ex-girlfriend. Together, they face monsters, aliens, insane artificial intelligence, and even other survivors, all broadcast for the entertainment of a cosmic audience.
The success of the literary franchise is undeniable, with “Dungeon Crawler Carl” surpassing the 10 million copies sold mark. Ace Books and Audible are responsible for publishing the series, which already has seven volumes released, and the eighth book is scheduled to arrive on May 12th. Matt Dinniman indicated that Carl’s universe will end with a total of ten books.
