More than 70,000 Xfinity customers faced a widespread interruption in television and internet services last Monday, June 22, 2026. The problems intensified throughout the afternoon, with users reporting difficulties connecting to the TV and, subsequently, contacting the operator’s technical support.

Rapid escalation in user complaints

The first signs of failure appeared on Downdetector.com, a platform that monitors the status of online services, at around 1:03 pm (Pacific time). Initially, more than 12 thousand users were already experiencing difficulties, mainly concentrated in the TV connection.

The number of complaints grew exponentially in a few hours, highlighting the seriousness of the problem. With each new update to the website, more people were impacted and sought information about the failure.

  • 1:03 pm (PT):More than 12,000 users report problems.
  • 1:11 pm (PT):The number rises to 18,000 users, and Xfinity’s own status map is flawed.
  • 1:19 pm (PT):Around 24,000 people had already reported outages.
  • 1:22 pm (PT):More than 30,000 users affected.
  • 1:28 pm (PT):The total reaches 45,000 users with problems.
  • 1:35 pm (PT):Almost 60,000 complaints are registered.
  • 1:45 pm (PT):More than 70,000 users report service disruption, with reports of calls being dropped when trying to contact customer service.

Operator communication failure during the incident

Xfinity maintained public silence throughout much of the outage, issuing no official statement on the issues affecting tens of thousands of its customers. This stance generated even more frustration among users.

Press outlets tried to obtain a position from the company, but there was no immediate response to requests for clarification. The lack of official information contributed to the feeling of abandonment on the part of customers.

Main services affected and the impact on customers

Since the outage began, most users have reported specific problems with their television connection. For many, the inability to access streaming channels and platforms represented a major disruption in their daily lives.

In addition to the service failure, the customer experience was worsened by the difficulty in accessing support. Reports indicate that calls to the customer service center were interrupted before users even managed to speak to a representative, increasing discontent.

What is Downdetector and how does monitoring work

Downdetector is an online platform that monitors the status of various digital and telecommunications services, collecting interruption information from reports sent by users themselves. It acts as an independent barometer of service quality, offering a real-time view of failures.

The tool is widely used by consumers and the media to check the occurrence and extent of outages at technology companies and service providers. Its methodology is based on the aggregation and analysis of data from various sources, including social networks and direct user submissions.

Gradual recovery of services and normalization

After a spike in complaints, Downdetector began recording a decrease in problem reports around 1:57 p.m. PT. Customers indicated that television services were slowly returning to normal.

The gradual recovery suggested that Xfinity technical teams were working to reestablish connectivity, although without an official position on the causes of the failure. Normalization, however, did not erase the dissatisfaction generated by the interruption and lack of communication.
