The renowned studio MAPPA, acclaimed for works such as Jujutsu Kaisen and Dorohedoro, confirmed that it will be responsible for animating the opening sequence of the highly anticipated game Attack on Titan 3. The announcement was made during the studio’s 15th anniversary celebration, marking another chapter in its connection with the popular franchise.

The new title in the series had previously been revealed by Koei Tecmo earlier this month, during the Summer Game Fest event. The game will have a multiplatform release, covering PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with distribution via Steam. New detailed information is scheduled for July 1st, increasing fans’ expectations.

This new collaboration deepens MAPPA’s relationship with the Attack on Titan universe, as the studio was in charge of animating the final season of the television adaptation of the anime, also known as Shingeki no Kyojin. The strategic choice for the studio to take over the opening of the game demonstrates continuity in the saga’s visual identity, consolidating MAPPA’s legacy beyond the small screen and in the video game segment.

The broadcast celebrating the studio’s anniversary was attended by director Yuichiro Hayashi and actress Yui Ishikawa, the original voice of the character Mikasa Ackerman. The artists took the opportunity to share their reflections and feelings about the outcome of the acclaimed series.

Despite the end of the anime’s journey, the studio team assured that the franchise, based on Hajime Isayama’s manga, will continue to explore new projects. In addition to the recently released game, an art exhibition dedicated to the final season is scheduled, to the delight of admirers.

For the event, new promotional art was developed, which highlights the character Mikasa. The image layout was designed by Yuichiro Hayashi, with illustration by Tomohiro Kishi, digital coloring by Iku Onishi, background art by Yumena Ohama and final composition by Yusuke Tannawa.

The first three seasons of Attack on Titan were produced by WIT Studio, known for works such as ISEKAI Suicide Squad and Ranking of Kings. Later, MAPPA took over the animation for the final season. The complete series is accessible on the Crunchyroll platform, offering subtitles and dubbing options in Portuguese.
