Aston Villa formalizes proposal of R$53 million for Emerson Royal, Flamengo full-back
Right-back Emerson Royal, who plays for Flamengo, became the target of an offer from English club Aston Villa. The British team presented a proposal valued at 9 million euros, which corresponds to around R$53 million at the current price, in a recent movement in the football market.
Within the Rio club, the defender is considered an athlete with a high level of approval, both by the technical committee and the football department. Despite European interest, Flamengo has not yet formalized a final decision on the player’s stay or departure.
In parallel with analyzing the proposal, the red and black board assesses the financial impact. The club’s planning envisages making one or two additional sales of athletes to help balance cash flow, following a path already taken with the negotiation of striker Ryan Roberto to Shakhtar Donetsk, from Ukraine, which yielded 10 million euros (R$58.7 million). Maintaining this sales strategy is crucial for Flamengo to sustain its financial health in an increasingly dynamic transfer market.
Emerson Royal participated in 21 clashes in the current season. His arrival at Flamengo took place in 2025, coming from Milan, in Italy, for an amount identical to what Aston Villa is now offering: 9 million euros. This repetition of the initial purchase and sale value for a 27-year-old player raises questions about the asset’s valuation on the market, a point of attention for the club’s athlete management.
The 27-year-old athlete has already recorded 40 appearances with the Flamengo shirt, contributing with one goal and five assists. His contractual relationship with the Rio club extends until December 2028.
