An unexpected offer appeared for Ceará in the current Series B season, involving goalkeeper Vozinha, known for his outstanding performance for the Cape Verde team in the World Cup. The proposal was sent to the black and white club at a time of intensification in the search for new reinforcements, in line with the arrival of coach Daniel Paulista. The news was initially released by Jangadeiro and then confirmed by GE investigations.

Despite the movement on the part of the athlete’s representatives, Ceará did not show receptivity to the idea. The club did not open negotiations or express interest in counting on Vozinha, who is currently 40 years old, to join its squad in the second national division. The advanced age of goalkeepers, even with a high-level record, often conflicts with the strategy of Series B clubs, which look for athletes with resale potential or who fit into a long-term plan, in addition to salary and physical considerations for an exhausting season.

Currently, Ceará is in the second half of the Series B table and already has an established team of goalkeepers. Options for the team’s goal include Richard, Bruno Ferreira, Gustavo Martins and Jorge Meurer.

Vozinha’s standout performance at the World Cup

Goalkeeper Vozinha gained global recognition following his remarkable performance at the World Cup, particularly in Cape Verde’s goalless draw with Spain during the opening phase of the tournament. Before shining at the World Cup, the athlete was linked to GD Chaves, a team that competes in the second division of Portuguese football.

In the last European season, 2025/26, the archer participated in 19 matches for GD Chaves. His career includes spells at several clubs, accumulating experience in leagues in Cape Verde, Angola, Moldova, Cyprus and Slovakia.

The Brazilian inspiration behind the goalkeeper’s name

The player’s full name is Josimar José Évora Dias, but he is widely known as Vozinha. The choice of the first name pays tribute to right-back Josimar, an icon of Brazilian football who represented the team in the 1986 World Cup, after Leandro’s absence.

In an interview with Verdinha radio, the president of Ceará, João Paulo Silva, revealed that the club has already agreed on five new players for the next transfer window. The official registration period for these and other athletes runs from July 20th to September 11th.
