Éder Militão confesses to using a pillow with his wife’s face to combat homesickness outside the fields
Currently out of the World Cup due to injury, Real Madrid defender Éder Militão revealed to American GQ ten of his most important items outside the four lines. Among objects such as a padel racket, kite, playing cards, headphones and fashion accessories, the athlete surprised by presenting a very peculiar item: a cushion printed with the face of his wife, digital influencer Tainá Castro.
Militão explained that he uses the object to sleep on nights when he needs to be away from his partner. The player, in an interview given in Spanish, mentioned that the pillow was a gift left by Tainá at home. He referred to the item as “my pillow, which I sleep with every night because sometimes I’m away from my wife.”

The Real Madrid defender also made a joke, suggesting that the item seems to convey a message from his partner. For Militão, the pillow serves as a reminder that, despite the distance, she remains present and attentive. “I give some kisses and sleep very comfortably with it”, declared the defender.
In the interview video, Éder Militão emphasized that his wife is the most vital element in his life, describing her as a “mirror” and his “daily motivation”. The athlete also shared a curious story about the beginning of the couple’s relationship: they discovered, years after meeting, that Tainá appeared in the background of a photo he had taken in Rio de Janeiro, long before they started dating. “I zoomed in on the photo and she appeared in the background. It was that day that I saw her for the first time”, he reported, humanizing the image of the professional player by showing the depth of his personal ties.
In addition to his wife’s pillow, the player displayed other belongings that hark back to his childhood in Brazil, such as kites, and his time with friends and family, such as playing cards. He also addressed topics such as his physical recovery, online gaming, musical preferences, fashion and general vanity.
