The world’s motorsport elite are preparing for the 2026 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix, which will take place at the Red Bull Ring in the picturesque hills of Styria. The event, with its track located approximately 700 meters above sea level, an altitude that can influence aerodynamics and engine performance, will have its official activities starting on Friday, June 26th, and culminating with the main race on Sunday, June 28th.

Recognized as the home circuit of the Red Bull team, the track is characterized by its compact length and high speed. Even though it has the smallest number of curves in the entire Formula 1 calendar, the track is notorious for providing drivers with several overtaking opportunities.

Recognizing the rich tradition of Austrian motorsport

This Grand Prix honors the deep motorsport heritage of Austria, a country that gave the world legendary names such as three-time world champion Niki Lauda and posthumous champion Jochen Rindt. The current configuration of the race track is the result of the modernization of the historic and challenging Osterreichring, a project developed by renowned engineer Hermann Tilke between the end of 1995 and the beginning of 1996.

The first half of the circuit favors powerful engines, with three long straights interspersed with uphill curves. In contrast, the second part of the route becomes a downhill sector, marked by high-speed curves, among which the famous right-hand curve that pays tribute to Jochen Rindt stands out.

Schedule details and official session times

Activities on Friday, June 26, begin with the first free practice at 12:30 pm, followed by the second free practice session at 4:00 pm.

On Saturday, June 27th, the drivers will take part in the third free practice session at 11:30 am, before the crucial qualifying session, scheduled for 3:00 pm.

The highlight of the weekend will be the main race on Sunday, June 28th, with the start scheduled for 2pm.
