‘Obsession’ Star Inde Navarrette Shares How She Survived Financially During 18 Months Without Acting
Inde Navarrette, 25, has emerged as one of Hollywood’s revelations. His starring role in the horror film ‘Obsession’ (2025), directed by Curry Barker, catapulted his career. The feature film’s plot centers on a romantically headstrong character who begs for the love of his crush.
However, in a revelation to the website Complex, Inde Navarrette explained that, after filming ‘Obsession’ and before its premiere, she faced a challenging period of eighteen months without new acting jobs, which led her to seek other sources of support.
Income Strategies Before Hollywood Recognition
To cover her daily expenses, the artist dedicated herself to activities such as walking dogs and broadcasting video games over the internet, occupations that kept her active during the scarcity of acting opportunities.
“I spent a year and a half without getting roles after filming ‘Obsession’,” explained Navarrette. “I tried everything, but the tests yielded nothing. The need to pay the rent and maintain my life was constant, so I explored all options, such as caring for animals and doing live shows, to cover expenses. This period highlights the uncertainty of an artistic career, even after work that would become a huge global box office success.”
To ensure his livelihood, Navarrette used an older computer for his game broadcasts, an initiative inspired by the admiration he had for the work of other content creators on the platform.
“The fun I found in video games made me reflect: if I was already playing alone, why not share this experience with other people through broadcasts?”, pondered the actress about her decision to enter the world of streaming.
Today, Navarrette’s broadcasts were interrupted. With the recognition and volume of new work invitations resulting from the success of ‘Obsessão’, the actress no longer has the time necessary to dedicate herself to this activity.
‘Obsession’ resounding performance in theaters
The film ‘Obsession’ was produced with a modest investment of approximately US$1 million, equivalent to around R$5.18 million at current prices. However, the box office return exceeded all expectations, grossing an impressive US$334.4 million, which represents more than R$1.7 billion, demonstrating a significant profit and an audience phenomenon for the production.
