Pokémon TCG: Emerald Storm features Mega Rayquaza ex, Talonflame ex and strategic battle items
The new expansion pack for the Pokémon TCG collectible card game, called “Emerald Storm”, is scheduled to arrive on July 31st. Along with the official announcement, the company revealed the first cards that will be part of the collection, including the powerful “Mega Rayquaza ex”, and detailed the specific moves, abilities and effects of each one.
The “Emerald Storm” collection was carefully created with a focus on the so-called “Sealed Battles”. In this competitive format, participants open sealed expansion packs at the time of the event and use the cards they acquire, combined with a standard deck of Basic Energy, to build their strategy and compete in matches, promoting a more immediate and tactical gaming experience.

“Mega Rayquaza ex’s” ability, titled “Roar of Fury”, allows the player to examine the first four cards of his deck. You can then select a Basic Energy card from among them and attach it to this Pokémon, an action that can be performed when the card is played from the hand to the Bench during the turn.
Its main attack, “Emerald Storm”, inflicts 50 points of damage to the opponent’s Pokémon for each Fire Energy and Lightning Energy that is attached to all Pokémon on the player’s field. The Pokémon “Fletchinder ex” has the ability “Exciting Dive”, which allows it to enter the field directly from the hand to the Bench, as long as the player already has an active Mega Evolution Pokémon ex of the colorless type. Its attack, “Claw Hunt”, deals 150 damage and offers the advantage of searching for up to two cards in the deck to add to the hand, proving to be an excellent support, especially to complement strategies involving the colorless “Mega Rayquaza ex”.
The “Adventure Lantern” item card provides a strategic advantage by allowing the player to select a basic Fire Energy and a basic Lightning Energy directly from the deck and add them to their hand. This tool proves to be extremely convenient for speeding up the development of decks that depend on the combination of these two types of energy.
With the “Mega Rayquaza Cap” attached, the equipped Pokémon gains access to the “Delta Gift” attack. This special attack allows the player to attach a basic Energy from their own deck to all their Pokémon that are also wearing the “Mega Rayquaza Cap”, facilitating the distribution of crucial energy.
A powerful Stadium card, “Legendary Summit”, is introduced, and its particularity lies in its use in pairs. By combining two different “Legendary Summit” cards from the hand, the player can play them as a single Stadium card.

“Legendary Summit” functions as a crucial defensive tool, as its main effect is to reduce the number of Prize cards an opponent collects when any player’s colorless Pokémon is KO’d by an opponent’s attack. Your presence on the field can slow down your opponent’s rhythm, making it difficult to win by preventing opponents from getting Prize cards easily.
The “Game Master Animation” Supporter card grants the player the ability to draw two cards from their own deck. However, if the opponent has three or fewer Prize cards remaining, the advantage expands, allowing the player to add four cards to their hand.
This is a card that becomes exceptionally useful in the decisive phases of a match, and can change the course of the game. In particular, in the Sealed format, where each player starts with four Prize cards, its usefulness can be felt from the start.
Another Supporter card, “Higana’s Trust”, allows the player to make a strategic exchange. It is possible to replace the Active Pokémon with one of the Pokémon on the Bench and then choose an Energy that was linked to the exchanged Pokémon and attach it to the new Active Pokémon that entered the field. It is a versatile Supporter card, which ensures that the Active Pokémon can use its attacks continuously and efficiently.
Launch campaign and prize details
To celebrate the arrival of the “Emerald Storm” expansion pack, a special campaign has been organized, offering players the chance to enjoy “Sealed Battles” from the comfort of home. Participants are invited to play in this format with family and friends.
After the battles, players can submit their experiences and impressions to compete for an exclusive promotional card: “Mega Gallade ex” with SAR specification, limited to 2,000 winners, encouraging interaction with the new collection.
