A serious aerial incident occurred last Sunday (28), when a helicopter from the oil giant Saudi Aramco crashed in Ras Tanura, located on the strategic eastern coast of Saudi Arabia, close to the Strait of Hormuz. The disaster caused the deaths of 14 people, as reported by a state news agency, which did not specify the cause of the incident. Ras Tanura is one of the largest oil export ports in the world, and Saudi Aramco is the largest oil and gas company on the planet, with a significant impact on the global energy market.
Two days before the accident, on Friday (26), the company had restarted the flow of crude oil transportation at its Ras Tanura terminal, located in the Gulf. These operations had been suspended for about four months, which adds an element of timing to the tragedy.
Competent authorities have already started an investigative process to determine the circumstances and reasons behind the helicopter crash. The Arab country’s news agency reported that investigations are ongoing, seeking to clarify the facts.
Saudi Arabia, recognized globally as the main oil exporter, has intensified its efforts to move large volumes of cargo. This movement occurs in a scenario where other producers in the Middle East have also increased production and exports of oil and gas.
