The majority of the competition will be held in Europe and Africa, with the joint proposal from Morocco, Portugal and Spain being approved by FIFA. The expectation is that 101 of the 104 scheduled clashes will take place in these three countries, concentrating the core of the championship.
Historic celebration marks the start of the tournament in South America
To honor the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup, played in Uruguay in 1930, FIFA established that the opening games will take place in South America. Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will host one match each, before the competition moves to European and African venues.
Challenging logistics for selections due to the dispersion of venues
Due to the vast distance between the continents, different logistical planning was implemented for the calendar. The six teams participating in the opening games in South America will have an extended period of more than ten days of rest and travel, ensuring time to adapt before the second round.
Competition calendar establishes important dates until the final
The 2030 tournament will begin on June 8, with the first matches taking place in South America. Games in the regions of Morocco, Spain and Portugal will begin on June 13, and the grand final is scheduled for July 21.
