An albino boa snake was discovered by residents in Pittsburgh, resting peacefully in a residential pool area. The unusual situation led to the mobilization of animal control agents and police at the scene.
According to information released by Pittsburgh Public Safety, Mount Oliver Police were called to respond to the incident. The initial call came from a resident who spotted a large reptile in his yard, resulting in the mobilization of Pittsburgh Animal Care and Control.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers confirmed the presence of the albino boa. The animal was lying peacefully on a raised deck, close to the residence’s swimming pool, as described in the authorities’ official publication.
After rescue, the snake was taken to the Pittsburgh Humane Animal Shelter. There, she will receive the necessary care while more information is sought about her origin and possible owner.
Local authorities stressed that possession of boa constrictors is permitted in Pennsylvania. However, they reinforced the importance of owners’ responsibility in ensuring that their animals remain in safe environments, as snakes that escape can suffer injuries, harm other pets and threaten local fauna.
