Point guard Norman Powell agreed to a two-year contract worth US$45 million with the Chicago Bulls, according to information released by sources linked to the NBA market. The negotiation marks the arrival of a strong reinforcement for the Illinois team next season, seeking to strengthen its squad with a high-performance player.

Known for his high offensive capacity, Powell joins the Bulls after a successful spell with the Miami Heat, where he stood out as an All-Star. His scoring ability and experience on a competitive team provide significant strategic value to Chicago’s plans. Last season for the Heat, the athlete averaged 21.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, shooting an impressive 47% from the field.

Before arriving in Miami, Powell was involved in a complex trade involving three teams in July of the previous year, transferring from the Los Angeles Clippers. In his only season with the Heat, he earned his first All-Star Game nod, averaging more than 21 points per game for the second year in a row and connecting on 38% of his three-point shots. However, his participation was limited to 58 games due to injuries.

Powell’s professional career began with the Toronto Raptors, where he remained for over five seasons. During this period, he recorded averages of 9.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists, actively contributing to the Canadian franchise’s only title in 2019.

In 2021, the player was traded from the Raptors to the Portland Trail Blazers. Just over a year later, a new transaction took him to the Clippers, a team for which he played for more than three seasons and solidified his reputation as one of the most talented scorers in the league. In his final season in Los Angeles, he averaged 21.8 points per game.

The Chicago Bulls board officially finalized Powell’s signing with Jason Glushon and Khalid McCaskill, representatives of Glushon Sports Management, consolidating the athlete’s arrival at the franchise.
