Japanese authorities from the Nagoya District Public Prosecutor’s Office formalized the indictment against Yasuei Yakushiji (57), a renowned former world professional boxing champion residing in the Naka neighborhood, in the city of Nagoya. He and two other people are suspected of crimes related to the forgery and use of private and public electronic documents. The complaint involves the tampering and presentation of an adoption registration form, and Yakushiji has already admitted the irregularities in a statement.
The formalization of the accusation took place on May 28th. Details of the investigation indicate that a second accused, aged 28, had acted together with Yakushiji. The objective was to register the adoption of a woman by the ex-boxer’s wife, and to this end, the adoption form was altered, with the wife’s name inserted in the adoptive mother’s signature and stamp area without her consent. The doctored document was then delivered to a district office in Nagoya in November 2024.
In testimony, Yakushiji himself described the woman involved in the case as “my girlfriend”. He justified his actions by claiming a strong desire to build a family and for her to start using the surname Yakushiji, revealing the personal motivations behind the illegal conduct, which culminated in an indictment for forgery of documents.
