Adobe has launched the “Photo to Video” tool for the Lightroom app, available on Android and iOS cell phones and tablets. The new functionality, which arrived this Monday (6), allows users to give movement to static photos using artificial intelligence resources.
This innovation for the mobile editing platform comes on the heels of the launch of the same capability for the desktop version of Lightroom in June. The measure aims to integrate more AI functionalities directly into the Adobe ecosystem, eliminating the need to use multiple applications.
The technology used to animate photographs is based on Adobe’s own advanced Firefly and Google Veo artificial intelligence models. These AIs are recognized for their ability to generate high-quality visual content, transforming elements such as scenes, landscapes, animals and human figures into continuous and realistic movements.
The company explained how it works: “Based on the analysis of an individual image or a series of photos selected by the user, the tool is capable of estimating the depth of field, determining the most effective way to reproduce movement and, finally, animating the creation in a visually new sequence.”
The new package with this functionality began to be available in application stores, Play Store for Android and App Store for iOS, on Monday. To access the innovation, users simply update the Lightroom app on their mobile devices.
However, access to this new feature is restricted to subscribers of Adobe’s paid plans. Users with premium subscriptions, such as Lightroom Mobile Premium, are the only ones covered by the new feature.
