Fire at hotel in the center of Chapecó leaves guest injured after jumping from window
A hotel establishment in the city of Chapecó, in Santa Catarina, suffered a fire in the early hours of this Monday (6), causing injuries to at least four people. Of the total of nine guests who were rescued, three required hospitalization due to smoke inhalation, which blocked the escape routes from the place. The importance of security systems and well-marked escape routes in commercial buildings, especially hotels, is crucial to preventing greater tragedies in situations like this. Furthermore, another person, in a desperate attempt to save himself, jumped from a window and fell onto the roof of a neighboring property.
The incident began around 12:30 am in the central region of the largest metropolis in the west of Santa Catarina. According to information from the Fire Department, the flames started in one of the apartments located on the second floor and generated a large amount of smoke, which quickly spread throughout the shared areas of the building.

First aid and investigation of the incident
Upon arriving at the hotel, rescue teams identified several victims in isolated points, immediately beginning fire control and search operations to locate and rescue those affected. At the time the fire broke out, there were a total of 24 guests on site.
The Mix Vale portal tried to contact the hotel management to obtain more information about what happened.
After the flames were completely extinguished, firefighters carried out the aftermath procedures, ventilation of the building and constant monitoring of the area. The teams also offered assistance to guests in retrieving their personal belongings.
The perimeter was completely isolated to allow the execution of forensic work, which is being carried out by the Military Fire Department and the Scientific Police. The objective is to determine the circumstances and origin of the fire. The Military Police were also called to support the incident.
