A cargo transport aircraft, a Boeing 737 model, with Pakistani registration, disappeared from radar this Tuesday (7) while carrying five crew members. Contact with air traffic control was interrupted after the crew reported a failure in the navigation system while en route from Sharjah to Karachi, prompting search and rescue operations by Pakistani aviation authorities.
The plane, which has been in operation for around 27 years and belongs to the company K2 Airways, reported a navigation problem at exactly 9:18 pm, according to the local time zone, while approaching Karachi. The longevity of the aircraft, coupled with the reported failure, adds a layer of concern to the investigations initiated by the Pakistan Airports Authority.
Air traffic control professionals in the region attempted to provide immediate assistance to the aircraft. However, in just three minutes, the radar equipment registered a drastic and rapid loss of altitude, culminating in the total loss of contact with the flight, as detailed by the authority.

According to official information released, the estimated position of the plane at the time of the failure and subsequent disappearance was approximately 287 kilometers west of the city of Karachi.
Initial information collected suggests a likely crash of the aircraft in the high seas, southwest of Karachi. This indication was issued by the flight tracking service Flightradar24, published on the X platform.
The disappearance of the cargo plane occurred while it was crossing the skies over the Arabian Sea, specifically in the vicinity of Ormara, located in the Pakistani province of Baluchistan.
At the time of publication, both the airline K2 Airways and the manufacturer Boeing had not commented on the incident, remaining unanswered to press inquiries.
