The Portuguese team’s exit from the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup, in December of that year, still has repercussions on digital platforms. A recent analysis, conducted by fans and which gained great visibility, brought to light curious information about how Portuguese players interact on Instagram. The central point of this observation focuses on Cristiano Ronaldo, whose stance on social media stood out after his emotional farewell to the World Cup.
According to a survey on social media, the renowned player Cristiano Ronaldo maintains a connection on his Instagram profile with only four of his colleagues who were part of Portugal’s squad at the World Cup: Diogo Dalot, João Cancelo, Rafael Leão and Bruno Fernandes.
When examining the connection diagram that maps the profiles followed by team members, it becomes evident that, while most athletes follow a considerable number of colleagues, Cristiano Ronaldo appears in last place in this interaction study.
On the other hand, Bruno Fernandes and archer José Sá stand out for being the only ones following all the other 26 players in the squad.
Next, Nélson Semedo and Vitinha also recorded a high rate of connections, following 24 companions each on the digital platform.
