The second season of Alien: Earth, an original production by FX, announced on Tuesday, July 9, 2026, the inclusion of Tracey Ullman, Sam Spruell and Jerome Flynn in its cast. The actors arrive to reinforce the plot alongside Peter Dinklage, who had already been confirmed previously. Filming for the continuation of the series is already underway in London.
In addition to the new additions, the production will feature the return of much of the main cast from the first season. Names such as Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Babou Ceesay, Samuel Blenkin, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Moe Bar-El and Sandra Yi Sencindiver have confirmed their return, promising continuity and familiarity for the public.
Recognized talents reinforce the new phase of the series
The arrival of Tracey Ullman, Sam Spruell and Jerome Flynn is a factor that significantly raises the profile of the series, bringing to the production actors with a vast history in high-profile projects. The inclusion of these experienced professionals not only enriches the quality of expected performances, but also attracts the attention of a wider audience.
Sam Spruell, one of the new faces, already has experience working with Alien: Earth creator Noah Hawley. They collaborated on the fifth season of Fargo, which suggests a pre-established creative synergy. Spruell also participated in The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, playing the character Maekar Targaryen.
Jerome Flynn is widely recognized for his iconic performance as Bronn in the acclaimed series Game of Thrones. More recently, the actor was cast in 1923, a prequel series to Paramount+’s Yellowstone, where he starred alongside stars like Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.
The sci-fi context: Earth in the year 2120 and the “corporate age”
The narrative of Alien: Earth takes place in 2120, in a dystopian future where planet Earth is dominated by five megacorporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this scenario known as the “Corporate Era”, society is marked by the coexistence between humans and artificially created beings, including cyborgs – which combine biological and artificial parts – and synthetics, humanoid robots endowed with artificial intelligence.
The series sets out to be a unique part of the Alien canon, presenting a story that places the feared Xenomorph on Earth. Interestingly, the plot chronologically precedes what until then was considered the first canonical contact between humans and the creatures, events portrayed in the films Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. This approach offers a new perspective on the franchise’s mythology.
The arrival of hybrids and the emergence of the alien threat
One of the central points of the plot is the technological revolution led by Prodigy, the founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation, who discovers hybrids – humanoid robots that, for the first time, have human consciousness. The first hybrid prototype, named “Wendy” and played by Syndey Chandler, represents a pivotal milestone in humanity’s never-ending quest for immortality.
However, the tranquility of this new era is drastically disturbed when a ship belonging to Weyland-Yutani, the corporation that historically serves as the antagonist in the Alien saga films, crashes into Prodigy City. On board the vessel, five lethal species of extraterrestrial creatures are discovered, including the infamous Xenomorph, triggering a conflict of global proportions.
Faced with the emergency, Wendy and her mentor Kirsh, played by Timothy Olyphant, must fight desperately to survive. They face the alien threat in a scenario where artificial intelligence and corporate interests collide, defining the destiny of humanity.
