The journey to purchasing a brand new vehicle has become more accessible for taxi drivers and app drivers in Brazil. The Move Brasil program, a government initiative, made R$30 billion in credit available to financial institutions, aiming to help these self-employed professionals finance a new car. The money has been accessible since Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

This amount represents a significant opportunity for the category, which now has easier conditions to renew or acquire its means of work. The measure seeks to boost the economy and offer support to essential workers in the transport sector.

Seven fundamental steps to be approved for automotive credit

Finance experts have created a practical guide with seven essential tips to increase the chances of approval for vehicle financing. The first crucial step involves proving your ability to pay, a pillar for any credit process.

Keeping your personal accounts up to date is essential, as is seeking to reduce existing debts and regularize your name. Before formalizing the credit request, it is advisable to monitor the CPF to ensure that there are no outstanding issues.

Another important recommendation is to monitor and improve your credit score. This score reflects the applicant’s risk profile for banking institutions, and a high score can result in lower interest rates and more favorable payment conditions.

It is also essential to respect the monthly income commitment limit. The financing portion must be compatible with the driver’s financial reality, allowing there to be margin to cover other essential vehicle expenses, such as fuel, maintenance and insurance.

For self-employed professionals, the organization of proof of income is a differentiator. It is recommended to gather bank statements from the last few months, the most recent Income Tax declaration and revenue reports from transport platforms, such as Uber, to demonstrate financial stability.

Utilizing existing banking relationships can be a strategic advantage. Seeking financing from an institution where money already moves and has a known positive history can speed up the process and facilitate approval.

Avoiding common mistakes is the sixth crucial tip, such as trying to simulate an unrealistic income, accumulating credit card installments or accepting installments that excessively compromise the budget. Such practices can signal financial instability and harm the credit rating.

Finally, advance preparation for approval is highly recommended. This includes the formation of a financial reserve to offer a larger down payment, which can reduce the total amount financed and, consequently, the interest cost. Organizing all documentation in advance also contributes to a faster and more efficient process.

The interest rates for the MoveApps program are a big attraction, varying between 11.5% and 12.6% per year. These rates are considerably lower compared to rates practiced in the conventional market, representing substantial savings for those benefiting. Even with subsidized interest, the strategy of making the largest initial payment possible and, thus, reducing the principal amount financed, will always result in a reduction in the total cost of the credit operation.
