The new release of the acclaimed Sword Art Online (SAO) franchise for consoles, titled “Echoes of Aincrad”, continues to be a topic of intense discussion among gaming enthusiasts. One of its most talked about elements is the “death game mode”, a feature that causes the definitive loss of saved progress whenever the player is defeated, significantly intensifying the level of difficulty and immersion in the journey.

To celebrate the game’s arrival on platforms, a special live event was held last Wednesday, July 8, 2026, starting at 8 pm. Approximately thirty content creators were invited to a fierce competition, where they tested their skills in the challenging Death Game mode, set to maximum difficulty, named “Very Hard”.

Among the participants who confirmed their presence were well-known figures such as figure skater Shoma Uno, who is also part of the esports team VARREL, and Shiranui Flare, member of the group Hololive. Terriermon Assistant and Yoshinama also joined the roster of streamers. The creator of the “SAO” saga, Reki Kawahara, was present to closely monitor the competitors’ performance.

The broadcast format required participants to try to survive for a predetermined period. The rules were strict: any failure by a streamer during the session resulted in the immediate interruption of their live broadcast.
